Outreach
The responsibility of the Outreach Committee is to bring to the attention of the congregation some of the many ways our church can reach out to others, in our community, our nation, and the world with our gifts, our services, and our prayers, as we attempt to follow the instructions of Jesus when he said "Inasmuch as ye do it unto the least of these my brethren, ye do it also unto me." (Mathew 25:40)
It boils down to doing our best to help those less fortunate than ourselves, to inform those who have never heard about the love of Jesus Christ, and to try to live as He would have us live.
Below are some of our projects and missions we are involved in and need your support:
SPECIAL SUNDAYS (Human Relations Day, One Great Hour of Sharing, Native American, United Methodist Student Day, World Communion Day and Peace with Justice Sunday
LENT OFFERINGS – It seems almost easy to “do” the season of Lent in our homes. We give up some things we like and resolve to do some things we usually avoid; we may avoid meat on Fridays in Lent. Without some thought, though, it’s easy to let Lent stop there. To create an atmosphere that shows to our children the meaning of Lent, we need to keep in mind that Lent always points to Easter.
OTHER PROJECTS/MISSIONS – Pancake Dinner or Breakfast, Montana Mission, Trunk or Treat, Missionaries and Helping Hands.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas-Jesus Christ.
At Trinity United Methodist Church, we encourage our members to put together shoe boxes and have the children present them to the congregation during the 11:00 Worship Service near the end of November. For the past several years, we have put a team together to help inspect the shoeboxes at the Processing Center in Charlotte, NC and a group from Trinity goes to Sandra's House in Mexico to distribute the Samaritan's Purse Gift Boxes each year. This is an important mission to Trinity Church and we will continue to do all that we can.
